Telangana STF Busts Spurious Liquor Unit in Suryapet, Two Arrested

Overview

  • The State Task Force of the Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department raided Shruthi rice mill in Ramapuram village, Mellachervu Mandal, on July 22.
  • Officers arrested S. Mahesh Kumar of Palnadu district and Prakash, the rice mill owner, on charges of manufacturing adulterated liquor.
  • Authorities seized 840 litres of rectified spirit, 328 litres of McDowell’s whiskey, over 11,800 empty bottles, roughly 7,800 counterfeit labels and multiple large steel vessels.
  • Excise Enforcement Director Shahnawaz Qasim stated the operation used adulterated rice and counterfeit packaging to replicate branded products.
  • Additional suspects are lodged in Andhra Pradesh or remain at large, and investigators are tracing R. Srinivas alias Abdul Kalam.
