Telangana Shuts Medha School After EAGLE Busts Alprazolam Lab Hidden on Campus

Authorities revoked recognition, ordered student transfers, expanded the probe into the lab’s supply network.

Overview

  • EAGLE raided Medha School in Bowenpally on September 13–14, uncovering a clandestine alprazolam unit that operated in converted rooms while classes continued elsewhere.
  • Officers seized 3.5 kg of finished drug, 4.3 kg of semi-finished product, precursor chemicals, industrial reactors and dryers, and Rs 21 lakh in cash that police said reflected two days of sales.
  • School director Malela Jaya Prakash Goud was arrested with driver Pentamol Uday Sai and courier G. Murali Sai, with police alleging distribution to toddy depots in Boothpur and other Mahabubnagar areas.
  • Investigators say Goud bought a manufacturing formula from Guruva Reddy for about Rs 2 lakh, and reports vary on the unit’s duration, ranging from six months to roughly a year.
  • The education department canceled all permissions, began closing the campus and shifting about 130 students, and police are tracing chemical suppliers, buyer lists, and potential links to recent toddy adulteration cases.
