Telangana Sets Two-Year Deadline to Build New Osmania General Hospital

A new interagency committee will conduct field reviews every ten days to clear obstacles.

Overview

  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy set a two-year timeline after a review, with work already underway this month in Goshamahal on a 2,000-bed complex over 26 acres with an outlay above ₹2,000 crore.
  • A coordination panel comprising Health, Police, GHMC, Roads & Buildings and Energy will visit sites and meet every ten days to resolve issues quickly.
  • Officials were directed to procure modern medical equipment and ensure designs include adequate rooms, labs and other spaces for installation.
  • Parallel road connectivity works and advance traffic-management plans were ordered to limit disruption to nearby residents.
  • An officer will be appointed for each hospital and medical college project across districts with instructions to complete those buildings by next June.
