Telangana Sets Two-Phase Local Body Polls for September–October

Overview

• Elections to mandal and zilla parishad territorial constituencies will be held first, with gram panchayat voting planned for the first week of October.
• The Telangana SEC will publish draft electoral rolls and polling-station lists on September 6, take objections through September 8, and finalize both on September 10.
• The SEC is expected to issue the MPTC and ZPTC election notification after September 10 once voter lists are confirmed.
• MPTC and ZPTC contests will use party symbols, whereas gram panchayat elections will be conducted on a non-party basis.
• The state cabinet agreed to a two-phase plan and informed the SEC to proceed with preparations.
