Overview

• Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy directed officials to prepare a revised DPR for Pranahita-Chevella with a Tummidihatti barrage fixed at 150 metres.
• L&T, Afcons and Navayuga were asked to be ready for geophysical and geotechnical studies to develop repair and rehabilitation designs for the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages.
• Fresh design work will prioritize Medigadda, where Block 7 suffered pier cracks and partial sinking in October 2023, while seepage issues at Annaram and Sundilla also require action.
• Field tests are slated after the current flood season at Annaram and Sundilla, with Medigadda likely needing a coffer dam and testing only in next summer’s low-flow window.
• Officials were told to finalize documentation for KWDT-II hearings next week and to seek central funding for Chanaka-Korata, Chinna Kaleshwaram and Sitarama under PMKSY, as the minister rejected Harish Rao’s ₹35,000 crore and 4.47 lakh acres figures as unfounded.
