Telangana Releases ₹33 Crore to Equip Districts for Monsoon Flood Response

Officials say replicating Kerala’s early-release system will help districts secure life-saving equipment within the golden hour

Overview

  • Each of the 33 districts has received ₹1 crore under State Disaster Response Fund norms for pre-monsoon procurement of rescue gear.
  • Authorized purchases include airboats, life jackets, advanced sirens, public address systems, ropes, gas light cutters, bush cutters and ladders.
  • Funds are strictly barred from being used for building repairs or unrelated departmental expenses.
  • Aapda Mitra volunteers together with Revenue, Police and Fire Department personnel will deploy the new equipment during flood emergencies.
  • All procured gear will be stored in safe custody at district fire stations after the monsoon for future disaster response.
