Overview

  • Telangana’s Q1 revenue receipts reached ₹37,221 crore, 16.2% of the ₹2.29 lakh crore target and slightly up from 16.1% a year ago.
  • Total receipts, buoyed by ₹20,266 crore in borrowings, stood at ₹57,499 crore or 21.06% of the ₹2.84 lakh crore estimate.
  • The quarter closed with a ₹10,582 crore revenue deficit instead of the budgeted ₹2,738 crore surplus and a ₹20,266 crore fiscal gap.
  • Salary, pension and interest outlays consumed over one-third of their annual projections, limiting room for capital spending.
  • Key tax streams such as GST, stamps and registration, and state excise all trailed proportional targets while non-tax revenue and grants barely registered.
