Investigators say the haul points to a multi-state network with two named suspects still at large.

Overview

  • Officers intercepted a container truck at Vepalagadda in Sujatha Nagar mandal during checks and recovered 96 packets weighing 499 kg.
  • Police said the consignment was procured in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellipaka forest area for transport to Jaipur in Rajasthan.
  • Those arrested were identified as Jagadish Dayaram Patil of Maharashtra and Sanju Kumar of Karnataka, both linked to earlier smuggling cases in Paderu and Aurad.
  • Cases were registered against four people, including purchaser Amit Rohidas Patil of Maharashtra and seller Hari of Odisha, who remain absconding.
  • The truck and two mobile phones were seized to aid the probe, which follows a separate 222 kg recovery in Aswaraopet days earlier.
