Telangana Orders Daily Field Oversight and 5-Year Plan for Hyderabad Under CURE Revamp

A new coordinating authority will unify civic agencies to accelerate waste, drainage and pollution controls.

Overview

  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed newly appointed GHMC zonal commissioners to make daily field visits and be held responsible for fixing issues in their zones.
  • Officials were told to prepare a comprehensive five-year action plan for planned development across 12 zones, 60 circles and 300 wards.
  • Waste management was flagged as the toughest challenge with regular sanitation special drives mandated, though reports differ on frequency between three days per month and once every 10 days.
  • De-silting of storm-water drains and sewage networks will start in January with GHMC, HYDRAA and the Water Works sharing responsibility.
  • The directives include moving to ban single-use plastics, replacing diesel buses and autos with electric vehicles, and installing CCTV at lakes, drains and illegal dumping sites alongside tech upgrades to increase service transparency.
