Telangana Nights Forecast to Stay 3–4°C Below Normal in Pockets Over Next Two Days

IMD has issued no cold wave alert.

Overview

  • Night temperatures have fallen to single digits in several areas, with nine districts below 10°C on December 22–23 and Sirpur (Kumaram Bheem) reporting 7°C.
  • Across much of the state, minima are hovering between 7°C and 12°C versus the usual 12°C to 16°C for late December, even as daytime highs remain near normal around 28°C to 33°C. Hyderabad saw wide variation, including Patancheru at 8°C and Rajendranagar at 9°C, while core areas such as Begumpet held at 13–14°C; GHMC cold pockets include Patancheru, Ramachandrapuram, Serlingampally, Rajendranagar, Uppal, Malkajgiri and Kapra.
  • IMD expects dry weather with clear to partly cloudy skies, mist or fog in the mornings, and continued chill through Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning.
  • Meteorologists attribute the broader nocturnal cooling to an early-onset winter, persistent dry northerly winds and clear skies, with modest relief projected from December 27 as night minima rise by about 1–2°C to roughly 11–14°C in the capital and 8–13°C in districts; this winter’s lowest so far is 4.5°C, with a 2.0°C state low recorded in 2015.
