Telangana Launches US Consulate Waiting Area and Endowments E-Office

New facilities signal Telangana’s push to modernize public services alongside its growing partnership with the United States.

  • The Rs 1.5 crore Telangana State Consular Waiting Area outside the US Consulate in Hyderabad began operations on July 30, serving over 3,000 visa applicants daily.
  • Built by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, the waiting area features covered seating, charging stations and real-time appointment displays to reduce queues and improve comfort.
  • IT minister D. Sridhar Babu noted that the United States accounts for 38 percent of Telangana’s IT exports and that US firms invested Rs 31,500 crore in January, generating more than 30,000 jobs.
  • The Telangana endowments department’s e-Office system, developed by the National Informatics Centre, is now live at the state Secretariat with plans to extend to Yadagirigutta and over 30 major temple administrations.
  • Endowments minister Konda Surekha demonstrated the platform’s readiness by approving a compassionate appointment online and highlighted its audit trail for preventing file loss and expediting urgent cases.
