Telangana Launches Statewide Ration Card Rollout Ahead of Local Elections

Overview

  • The Civil Supplies Department completed printing and dispatched new cards to all 33 districts by early June to meet the election code deadline.
  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the handover on July 14 in Tirumalagiri and MLAs will distribute cards in their constituencies.
  • Updated beneficiary data now covers 3.10 crore individuals across 94.72 lakh families, including newly formed households and children over six.
  • Each ration-card holder will receive six kilograms of free fine rice per person per month at an annual subsidy cost of ₹13,000 crore under the National Food Security Act.
  • A record bonus of ₹500 per quintal for fine-rice farmers helped push Telangana’s grain output to an all-time high of 281 lakh tonnes.
