Overview

• State officials set a procurement target of at least 80 lakh metric tonnes, split equally between fine and coarse rice, with an outlay of about ₹23,000 crore.
• The plan guarantees the minimum support price plus a ₹500 per quintal bonus for fine rice, with instructions to pay farmers within 48 hours and record purchases immediately.
• Authorities outlined 8,342 procurement centres statewide, and more than 1,200 are already operating in Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Medak, Siddipet and Nalgonda.
• Operational orders call for amenities at purchase points, strong transport and storage arrangements, weather safeguards, 24x7 oversight and a farmer helpline at 1800-425-00333/1967.
• Warehouse capacity is tight with less than 8 lakh metric tonnes free and 21.72 lakh metric tonnes held by the FCI, and the state has asked the Centre to move out about 21 lakh metric tonnes using 300 rakes a month.
