Overview
- Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation for drawing 20 TMC from Mallanna Sagar, allocating 17.5 TMC for Hyderabad’s drinking water and 2.5 TMC to recharge Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar for Musi rejuvenation.
- The new phases are designed to add about 300 MGD to a system that currently supplies 580–600 MGD, with city demand projected at 835 MGD by 2027 and 1,114 MGD by 2047.
- The package also includes the ORR Drinking Water Supply Project (Phase II) at ₹1,200 crore and a ₹298 crore Kokapet layout water and sewage project to extend service to fast‑growing suburbs.
- BRS leader K. T. Rama Rao accused the government of inflating costs and shifting from a Kondapochamma gravity option he said was estimated at about ₹1,100 crore, while the government proceeds with a ₹7,360 crore plan using Mallanna Sagar.
- The state signalled CBI involvement in Kaleshwaram‑related probes, and the Irrigation Minister said NDSA‑guided restoration of the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages will begin after the flood season with IIT Hyderabad vetting.
