Telangana Launches Four-Phase Safety Inspections of 4,061 High-Risk Units

The drive requires all chemical and pharmaceutical plants to complete a self-certification checklist within a week or face mandatory inspections.

Overview

  • Five regional teams led by Deputy Chief Inspectors of Factories began inspections of 4,061 high-risk chemical, pharmaceutical and related units in Sangareddy, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Yadadri-Bhongir districts
  • Industries have been directed to submit a prescribed self-certification checklist within seven days or face compulsory on-site inspections under the Labour, Employment, Training and Factories department order
  • Inspections will proceed in four phases over two months, starting with pharma and chemical plants, then gas bottling and biotech units, followed by power, steel and foundry facilities, and concluding with remaining high-risk industries
  • District-level committees staffed by officials from factories, industries, boilers, labour, pollution control and fire services have launched sensitisation programmes to promote preventive safety measures
  • Officials have been instructed to partner with factory managements to develop custom safety modules and conduct local awareness drives aimed at fostering proactive risk management
