Overview

  • On June 17, Mahabubnagar police registered an FIR against Palamur Biosciences under BNSS, multiple IPC sections and the Wildlife Protection Act.
  • PETA India’s whistleblowers provided video footage and insider testimonies alleging overcrowding, social isolation and cruel killings of dogs, pigs and monkeys between 2021 and 2023.
  • The Committee for the Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals convened an emergency inspection team at the Telangana facility and its report is still pending.
  • PETA India and the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations are pushing for the lab’s licenses to be revoked, permanent shutdown and rehabilitation of surviving animals.
