Overview

  • On July 25, 2025, the Telangana High Court refused to discharge IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi from the Obulapuram Mining Company corruption case, reinstating her as the sixth accused.
  • The Supreme Court gave the High Court a three-month deadline earlier this year to rehear her petition and assess the CBI’s evidence.
  • Srilakshmi first challenged her involvement in October 2022 when a CBI special court in Hyderabad rejected her discharge petition.
  • CBI investigators allege that as Industries Department secretary in 2006 she abused her authority to benefit OMC promoters and extract bribes.
  • The 2009 CBI probe has already led to seven-year sentences for key OMC figures and acquittals for some co-accused amid ongoing appeals.
