Overview
- The modernised Passport Seva Kendra at Karimnagar was inaugurated on September 15 by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Union MoS for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar at Bharat Talkies Chowrasta.
- The Karimnagar facility spans about 7,000 square feet with a larger waiting hall, a childcare room, and wheelchair access, and it is currently processing roughly 250 applications per day.
- Bandi Sanjay Kumar said measures would be taken to raise daily application slots to 500 and indicated a permanent building would follow if the state allocates land.
- Two upgraded Passport Seva Kendras opened in Hyderabad at MGBS Metro Station and Raidurg, with the Ameerpet PSK shifted to MGBS and the Tollychowki PSK moved to Raidurg.
- The MGBS centre offers metro and bus connectivity with upgraded infrastructure, while the Raidurg site is Telangana’s largest PSK serving the city’s IT corridor, with senior MEA and regional passport officials in attendance.
