Telangana Expands GHMC to 300 Wards as Jayesh Ranjan Takes Charge of Metro Development

The shake-up aligns top posts to manage an enlarged metropolitan footprint.

  • The government issued GO 1806 finalizing the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s enlargement to 300 wards up to the Outer Ring Road.
  • Senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan was appointed Special Chief Secretary for Metropolitan Area and Urban Development within HMDA limits, relieving Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao of the additional charge.
  • Ranjan continues on full additional charge for Youth, Tourism, Culture and Sports and as Director of Archaeology, while Rao retains FAC over the Industry and Investment Cell and SPEED, with Bhavesh Mishra given FAC as additional CEO for those units.
  • New zonal commissioners were posted across the expanded GHMC, including Bhorkhade Hemant Sahadeorao (Serilingampally), Apurv Chauhan (Kukatpally), Sandeep Kumar Jha (Qutbullapur), Priyanka Ala (Khairatabad) and S. Srinivas Reddy (Charminar).
  • A broader IAS reshuffle named M. Haritha as TGPSC secretary, posted E.V. Narsimha Reddy as MD of the Musi River Development Corporation, and reassigned several district and departmental roles.
