Telangana DGP Orders Tech-Led Security Push for Ganesh Chaturthi
The directive centralizes pandal registration and route mapping to reduce crowd, traffic and infrastructure risks during idol immersion.
Overview
- DGP C V Anand held a video conference on Monday and directed statewide police to begin coordinated preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi, which runs from September 14 and ends with immersions on September 25.
- A dedicated online portal has been launched to record pandal locations, organisers, committee members and immersion vehicles, and Station House Officers have been given logins to update and monitor entries.
- Officers were ordered to personally inspect pandals, geo-tag sites and upload security measures to the TG-COP control platform to enable real-time oversight by senior commanders.
- Police were told to map immersion routes and assess roads and bridge load-bearing capacity, plan traffic diversions, deploy bomb-detection teams and dog squads where needed, and coordinate with Electricity and Fire departments.
- For worshippers the measures mean more visible checks, CCTV and volunteer-managed queues plus likely traffic restrictions on immersion day, and officials say completing these technical and interagency steps before September 25 should help lower safety and crowd risks.
