Telangana Deputy CM Orders Acceleration of SCCL’s Floating Solar, Wind and Storage Projects

Officials must secure irrigation approvals for two floating solar plants, complete wind feasibility reports by late July, begin construction of the Medipalli pumped storage project under a new monitoring dashboard.

Overview

  • Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka directed the irrigation department to clear a 300 MW floating solar plant at Lower Manair Dam and a 500 MW facility on Mallannasagar reservoir.
  • On June 21, SCCL awarded WAPCOS a contract to prepare the 500 MW Medipalli pumped storage DPR and was instructed to start construction immediately.
  • He set a July 31 deadline for Detailed Project Reports on a 500 MW wind farm spanning five Telangana districts and urged use of advanced technology for feasibility.
  • Vikramarka called on SCCL and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited to fast-track a 1,500 MW solar park in Rajasthan’s Solar Valley and advance an 800 MW thermal proposal for cabinet approval.
  • A centralized real-time dashboard will be developed to track all Energy Department projects as SCCL pursues its goal of 7,000 MW of renewable capacity.
