Overview

• SC and ST reservations in local bodies will be determined using the 2001 census population data.
• The Assembly will take up a Bill on Sunday to replace the ordinance and amend the 2018 Panchayat Raj law that capped total quotas at 50%.
• Officials said a Government Order will be issued after enactment, while earlier Bills and the ordinance seeking 42% BC reservations remain with the President for assent.
