Overview
- The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education issued the circular on July 1 extending Phase II admissions for 2026-27 first-year intermediate courses to July 31 to accommodate students after SSC advanced supplementary results.
- Admissions must be allotted solely on Grade Point Average, subject-wise grade points, or qualifying exam marks and colleges are explicitly banned from holding their own entrance tests.
- The board ordered one-third of total seats be reserved for girls in areas without separate girls’ colleges and reiterated reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, physically handicapped, NCC, sports/extracurricular and ex-servicemen categories.
- Colleges must display sanctioned sections, filled seats and vacancies at their entrances with daily updates, may not increase sanctioned intake or open new sections without TGBIE approval, and must collect Aadhaar details and Tehsildar residential certificates for gap-year applicants.
- The circular also requires anti-drug declarations, female student safety measures and compliance with the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 for foreign-national admissions, and warns of strict action for violations to improve fairness and curb inducements.
