- Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao issued a government order on November 4 allocating the Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises portfolios to Mohammad Azharuddin.
- Azharuddin was sworn in on October 31, becoming the first Muslim minister in the Revanth Reddy cabinet and taking its strength to 16.
- The two departments were previously handled by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, respectively.
- The BJP has written to the State Election Commission alleging the induction breaches the Model Code of Conduct ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll on November 11.
- Azharuddin was nominated to the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota and must obtain a legislature seat within six months to remain a minister.
