Telangana Approves 86.1 Km Phase 2B Expansion of Hyderabad Metro Rail

Overview

  • Three new corridors will link the airport to Future City (39.6 km), Jubilee Bus Station to Medchal (24.5 km) and Jubilee Bus Station to Shamirpet (22 km).
  • The ₹19,579 crore project cost will be split equally by state and central governments, supplemented by 48% in loans and a 4% public-private partnership component.
  • Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited has been tasked as the implementing agency to advance design, financing agreements and construction planning.
  • Phase 1’s 69.2 km network at a cost of ₹22,000 crore formed the world’s largest PPP metro project and set the stage for Phase 2 expansions.
  • Telangana has allocated ₹125 crore to widen the MGBS–Chandrayanagutta road ahead of the proposed Phase II metro corridors.
