Telangana Announces North East Annexe Plan as Connect Festival Opens in Hyderabad

The state pledges free land in Bharat Future City for eight North Eastern bhavans and seeks Union backing to convert festival ties into lasting institutions.

Overview

  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Telangana will host India’s first dedicated annexe for the region within the planned 30,000-acre Bharat Future City.
  • Each of the eight states will be offered plots and support to build its own facility with hostels, food courts, handicrafts zones, and art and cultural venues.
  • He called for collaboration with the Union government and asked Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to steer the initiative.
  • The Telangana–North East Connect opened on November 20 at HITEX and continues with a film festival inaugurated on November 21 at Prasads IMAX, ahead of a second phase from November 25 to 27 at Raj Bhavan.
  • Framed as recognition of a large North East community in Hyderabad and part of the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 outreach, the proposal still awaits formal allotments and timelines.
