Telangana ACB Arrests HMDA Chief Engineer and Municipal Assistant Engineer

Searches uncovered assets officially valued at about Rs 9.24 crore plus large cash and jewellery and investigators are moving to obtain judicial remand and verify further holdings.

Overview

  • The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested HMDA chief engineer B. Ravinder and a Peddapally municipal assistant engineer after simultaneous operations that combined traps and disproportionate-assets searches.
  • On Tuesday, ACB searches at Ravinder’s residence, office and nine linked premises produced property documents, five open plots, four flats, a villa, a G+4 building, vehicles, bank deposits and jewellery with an official value of about Rs 9.24 crore.
  • ACB teams trapped 33-year-old Kallepalli Sathish Kumar accepting a Rs 2 lakh bribe to process a contractor’s final bill and then seized Rs 32.31 lakh in unaccounted cash from his home during follow-up searches.
  • Both officers have been taken into custody for production before special ACB courts and the bureau says it is continuing verification of bank records, property deeds and alleged benami links to identify more assets.
  • The raids form part of an intensified multi-state ACB crackdown that has used coordinated traps and DA probes to target corrupt practices in public works and police functions and the bureau is seeking public tips on bribery via its helpline 1064.
