Teenagers Convicted of Manslaughter in Fatal Park Attack on Elderly Dog Walker

A 15-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were found guilty of killing Bhim Kohli, 80, in a racially charged assault during a six-week trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Bhim Kohli, an 80-year-old grandfather, was attacked while walking his dog in Franklin Park near his home in Braunstone Town, Leicester, on September 1, 2024.
The boy, wearing a balaclava, physically assaulted Kohli, slapping him with a shoe and causing fatal injuries, while the girl filmed the attack and laughed.
Kohli sustained a broken neck and rib fractures, later dying in the hospital the following day; racial slurs were reportedly directed at him during the assault.
The jury deliberated for nearly seven hours before convicting the teenagers of manslaughter; sentencing has been postponed until May 2025.
The case has shocked the local community, raising concerns about youth violence, hate-motivated behavior, and the safety of public spaces.
