Teenager Logan MacPhail Named as Killer of Holly Newton in Knife Attack

A judge has lifted reporting restrictions to reveal MacPhail's identity, citing public interest in understanding the relationship and crime details.

Logan MacPhail, 17, was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend Holly Newton, 15, in a frenzied knife attack in Hexham, Northumberland.
MacPhail, described as 'jealous' and 'obsessive,' stalked Holly before stabbing her 36 times after she refused to reconcile their relationship.
The attack occurred after MacPhail traveled from Gateshead to Hexham, having been previously found outside Holly's home by police.
A boy who attempted to intervene during the attack was also stabbed, highlighting the violent nature of MacPhail's actions.
