Overview

• A 15-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remain in custody.
• The fire broke out around 9pm Friday at Indian Aroma on Woodford Avenue in Gants Hill, and firefighters extinguished it by 10:32pm.
• Five people, three women and two men, were taken to hospital with burns and smoke inhalation, with a man and a woman in life-threatening condition.
• CCTV seen by PA appears to show masked individuals entering the restaurant and pouring liquid on the floor moments before the interior ignited.
• Detectives have appealed for information as forensics continue at the scene and officers seek to trace two additional injured people who left before police arrived.
