Overview

• Police say two people exited a gray Honda and opened fire outside a smoke shop at Allerton and Olinville around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, killing 24-year-old Jamari Henry and injuring four men.
• The getaway vehicle crashed near Arnow and Hone avenues less than a mile away, leading to multiple detentions at the scene and the recovery of at least three firearms.
• Authorities announced charges against several Bronx residents, including teens, though reports differ on whether four or five suspects were charged and whether counts include murder or attempted murder and manslaughter.
• One suspect remains hospitalized from the crash as detectives work to determine targets and any gang connections; roles of those arrested are still being assessed.
• Separately, 21-year-old Jontay Davis was found shot behind St. Barnabas Hospital and later died, and the city has deployed about 1,000 additional officers to Bronx hot spots in response to recent violence.
