A seven-year-old boy was critically injured, and a 41-year-old man sustained severe injuries in the explosion of an illegal firework in Berlin-Tegel on New Year’s Eve.
The suspect, a 17-year-old, was identified through public tips submitted to a police portal and is being investigated for causing a bomb explosion.
Police searched the suspect's home and another witness's residence, recovering illegal pyrotechnics and other evidence for analysis.
Six additional individuals, including three children, suffered minor injuries from the incident and were treated at hospitals.
