Teen Pair Jailed Over Facebook Marketplace Lures in Manchester

Investigators used CCTV as well as seized evidence to link fake bike-sale meetings to the offenders.

  • Bilal Jama and Michael Ogbeide-John were sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on October 14 to three-and-a-half years and four years in prison, respectively.
  • The teenagers pleaded guilty to three robberies and one attempted robbery, with Ogbeide-John also admitting possession of a bladed article.
  • Victims were lured by fake Facebook Marketplace profiles advertising bikes, then assaulted and robbed of cash or bikes during arranged meetings.
  • One victim suffered seven jaw fractures and required reconstructive facial surgery with six metal plates after being found unconscious in an alleyway.
  • Police arrested Ogbeide-John near Longsight Police Station on January 24 and detained Jama two days later after evidence linked him to the crimes.
