Teen Driver Jailed After Crash Leaves Mother Paralysed

George Taylor, 19, crashed into a car on the A47 in Norfolk, leaving Catherine Davies, a mother in her 40s, paralysed from the neck down.
Taylor had held his driving licence for less than 12 weeks when he filmed himself steering with his knees and using his phone while driving at speed.
The crash occurred on January 18, 2023, when Taylor failed to notice Davies' car waiting to turn, causing a severe collision.
Catherine Davies, previously a fit and active fitness instructor, now requires lifelong care and has been described by her family as 'gregarious and full of life.'
Taylor pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was sentenced to two years and two months in prison, along with a 40-month driving ban.
