Overview
- Logan Addison was sentenced on June 20 at Shrewsbury Crown Court to five-and-a-half years in prison and banned from driving for eight years after being convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
- Evidence presented in court showed Addison, then 17, was speeding above the 60 mph limit near Shawbury Heath on February 4, 2023, lost control of his Volkswagen Golf without wearing a seatbelt and struck an electricity pole, killing 17-year-old Lily-May Vaughan.
- Prosecutors outlined that Addison continued to drive dangerously after the fatal crash, including performing doughnuts in a supermarket car park, driving without insurance and using a vehicle while disqualified.
- On June 23 on Good Morning Britain, Lily-May’s mother, Leanne Vaughan, called for interim licence suspensions in fatal collisions and a six-month passenger ban for newly qualified drivers.
- The charity RoadPeace joined Vaughan’s calls for graduated licensing measures and temporary licence suspensions to bolster road safety and protect vulnerable road users.
