A 16-year-old boy died after falling from a balcony on the Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas cruise ship.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday as the ship was sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Nassau, Bahamas.
Passengers were woken by an urgent intercom request for blood donations around 2:30 to 3:00 a.m.
Despite attempts to save the boy's life, including blood transfusions, he later died at a hospital.
Royal Caribbean has expressed condolences to the family but has not provided further comment on the incident.
