  • Emergency services responded to the Hume Freeway near Wodonga at about 12:50 am Friday after a Nissan X‑Trail collided head-on with a ute.
  • The passenger, a 16-year-old Wodonga girl, died at the scene; the 18-year-old Corryong driver of the Nissan and the 23-year-old NSW ute driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Investigators allege the Nissan was stolen from a Wodonga West address on Tuesday.
  • The Department of Transport closed the Hume Freeway northbound between High Street, Wodonga, and East Street, Albury, with traffic diverted via the Lincoln Causeway.
  • In a separate crash about 4:30 pm Thursday at Kaarimba, a Corolla and a Renault SUV collided, killing a 45-year-old Nathalia woman and seriously injuring a 30-year-old man who was flown to hospital, and police appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage via Crime Stoppers.
