Teen Charged in Alleged Samurai Sword Attack Severing Father’s Arm in Australia

Jaxon Jai Trinidad, 19, faces multiple charges after a violent confrontation in Kalgoorlie left his father critically injured.

  • Police allege Jaxon Jai Trinidad severed his father James Nybo’s arm with a samurai sword during a domestic altercation outside their Kalgoorlie home on February 19, 2025.
  • Nybo, 40, reportedly arrived armed with a baseball bat and had sent threatening messages prior to the confrontation, which escalated onto the street.
  • The victim’s arm was severed at the bicep and could not be successfully reattached after emergency surgeries at Royal Perth Hospital.
  • Trinidad, who has no prior criminal record, fled the scene and later turned himself in to authorities, initially providing a false alibi before claiming self-defense.
  • He has been charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and weapons offenses, denied bail, and is set to reappear in court on March 14, 2025.
