Teen Charged in Alleged Samurai Sword Attack Severing Father’s Arm in Australia

Jaxon Jai Trinidad, 19, faces multiple charges after a violent confrontation in Kalgoorlie left his father critically injured.

Police allege Jaxon Jai Trinidad severed his father James Nybo’s arm with a samurai sword during a domestic altercation outside their Kalgoorlie home on February 19, 2025.
Nybo, 40, reportedly arrived armed with a baseball bat and had sent threatening messages prior to the confrontation, which escalated onto the street.
The victim’s arm was severed at the bicep and could not be successfully reattached after emergency surgeries at Royal Perth Hospital.
Trinidad, who has no prior criminal record, fled the scene and later turned himself in to authorities, initially providing a false alibi before claiming self-defense.
He has been charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and weapons offenses, denied bail, and is set to reappear in court on March 14, 2025.
