Teen Arrested in Germany for Alleged Islamist Bomb Plot

Authorities in Mainz-Bingen detained a youth accused of planning a pipe bomb attack after online radicalization and spreading extremist propaganda.

The suspect, a youth from Mainz-Bingen, was arrested on Tuesday evening on charges of preparing a serious act of violence.
Investigators allege he planned to use homemade pipe bombs in an attack targeting a large number of people.
A previous search of his home in October uncovered two bayonets and four pipe sections intended for bomb construction.
Authorities found additional materials during a second search this week, but no explosives or immediate threat were identified.
The youth reportedly radicalized online, sharing Islamic State propaganda and calling for violence against non-Muslims.
