Overview

• Xavier Weddington, 19, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force in Grand Prairie on May 30 and is held on capital murder and aggravated assault charges.
• Jason Cuevas, 17, and his brother Bryan, 21, were found with gunshot wounds outside the Paddock on Park Row Apartments on May 29 and later died at a local hospital.
• Following inconsistencies in his account of being shot by an unknown assailant, officers used a photo lineup and a witness identified Weddington as the shooter.
• Investigators recovered multiple firearms at the scene and say the victims had arranged to meet Weddington for a high-risk transaction that went wrong.
• Officials have set Weddington’s bond at $1 million as the probe continues, and records show he was accused of threatening a woman with a gun in October 2024.
