Teen and Woman Accused in Mar del Plata Rideshare Robbery Tracked by GPS and Arrested at Hotel

Juvenile prosecutors have filed aggravated-robbery counts following the recovery of the stolen car at a hotel.

Overview

  • Police said a 16-year-old male and a 20-year-old woman allegedly threatened a 48-year-old rideshare driver with a firearm and took his Fiat Mobi, cash, phone, and documents in the early hours of September 19.
  • Officers used the vehicle’s geolocation to locate it at the Hotel Piscis on San Martín, where Comisaría Cuarta entered a room and detained the pair without incident.
  • Prosecutor Marcelo Yáñez Urrutia and juvenile guarantees judge Bustos imputed both suspects for aggravated robbery, including the use of a weapon that was not recovered and the participation of a minor.
  • Both detainees were transferred to the Centro Especializado en Aprehensión as the investigation proceeds under the juvenile justice system.
  • The car was recovered and returned to the driver, and reports note the alleged firearm was not seized at the scene.
