Teen Actors Cast as Hiccup and Astrid in Universal’s Live-Action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Remake

Mason Thames and Nico Parker will play Hiccup and Astrid, respectively, in the live-action remake of Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon franchise.
The film will be directed by Dean DeBlois, who helmed the original animated trilogy, and is set to begin filming this summer for a March 14, 2025 release.
Thames recently starred in The Black Phone, while Parker played a role in The Last of Us video game adaptation.
The story follows a young Viking boy who befriends an injured dragon in a world where dragons are hunted.
Universal's live-action take on the animated property is the studio's first foray into turning its animated films into live-action remakes.
