Windowsen had declined Stroble’s request to collaborate on the pearl suit, citing it as a made-to-order piece for another client.
Stroble issued a public apology, acknowledging the similarities and admitting he failed to ensure the design was distinct enough from Windowsen’s original work.
The Embroidery Studio, which collaborated on the outfit, also apologized, emphasizing respect for original creativity and calling the situation an unintended overlap.
Swims, a Best New Artist nominee at the Grammys, has not commented on the controversy, while Windowsen has reserved the right to take further action.
