Devraj flew to Hyderabad immediately after receiving the news, and it remains unclear if he will rejoin the team for the semi-finals on Tuesday.
The Hyderabad Cricket Association issued a statement expressing condolences to Devraj and his family for their loss.
In their final Group A match against New Zealand, India posted 249/9, with Shreyas Iyer scoring 79 and Hardik Pandya contributing a late 45-run cameo.
Both India and New Zealand have already secured semi-final spots, with India set to play the first semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday.
