Teaching Regulation Agency Bars Clitheroe Primary Teacher Over Explicit Messages Sent From School Toilets

The regulator cited sexually motivated conduct on school premises that created a safeguarding risk with pupils present.

Overview

  • Ben Walker admitted sending sexually explicit texts, voice notes and photos on July 13, 2022, from the school's toilets to an adult not connected to the school.
  • The TRA panel found the images were taken in the male toilets at Edisford Primary, in the main bathroom area without a locking door, with one exposure image redacted in the evidence bundle.
  • Panel members said there was no evidence any child saw the images or heard the voice notes, though pupils were on site, including for an after-school club, which presented some risk.
  • The prohibition order prevents Walker from teaching in schools, sixth-form colleges, relevant youth accommodation or children's homes in England, with no application to set it aside permitted until March 2028.
  • The panel deemed the messages sexually motivated and particularly graphic, noted Walker began at the school in 2016, and recorded his resignation in November 2023 after admitting the conduct.
