Overview
- Lucy Bamber, 26, pleaded guilty at North Staffordshire Justice Centre to owning a dog dangerously out of control and failing to keep a dangerous dog under proper control
- Hugo, Bamber’s two-year-old Cane Corso, bit a baby on the driveway of a Longton home on March 2, leaving puncture wounds to the back and arm that may scar permanently
- Magistrates ruled the attack was an isolated incident, praised Bamber’s cooperative response and judged her a fit and proper owner despite the severity of Hugo’s actions
- Alongside the fine and handling orders, Bamber must pay £300 in compensation to the child’s mother, £85 in court costs and a £197 surcharge
- Bamber has no prior convictions and has undertaken extra obedience and recall training for Hugo, who will also wear a hi-vis jacket and muzzle whenever he is outdoors
