TDS Racing Returns to Two-Car LMP2 Program for 2027
The expansion positions the team to capitalize on expected growth in LMP2 after Acura's GTP exit.
Overview
- TDS announced on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 that it will run two Oreca 07 Gibson LMP2 prototypes in the 2027 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
- The team confirmed full-season driver pairings of Tobi Lutke with Mathias Beche in the No. 11 and Stephen Thomas with Scott Huffaker in the No. 29.
- Sami Meguetounif will join the No. 11 and David Heinemeier Hansson will join the No. 29 as third drivers for the Michelin Endurance Cup long-distance rounds.
- The announcement makes TDS the first officially confirmed LMP2 entrant for 2027 and builds on the team’s recent endurance success, including back-to-back Michelin Endurance Cup wins.
- The move strengthens TDS’s recruiting and marketing position for next season and could encourage other teams to shift into LMP2 as IMSA balances prototype and GT numbers after Acura’s withdrawal.
