Taylor Swift Sets Records with '1989 (Taylor’s Version)', Dominates Global and US Charts with Top Album and Song Sales

Swift's '1989 (Taylor’s Version)' makes history with the biggest sales week of any album since 2015, securing the top six spots on the Global 200 chart, and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the only female artist to replace herself at the summit twice.

  • Taylor Swift's '1989 (Taylor’s Version)' sold a staggering 1.359 million copies in the U.S. in its first week, marking the largest sales week of any album since 2015 and achieving No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.
  • The album accounted for nearly half of all albums sold in the U.S. in its first week, and Swift is currently the year's top-selling act by total album sales, selling 4.531 million copies across all her titles in 2023.
  • In another historic achievement, Swift secured all top six positions on the Global 200 chart with songs from '1989 (Taylor’s Version)' and broke the previous record of top five positions, which she also held.
  • The lead song of the album, 'Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault]', debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 songs chart, making Swift the first artist to score new Global 200 No. 1s in consecutive weeks.
  • Taylor Swift also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 'Is It Over Now?', dethroning her own song 'Cruel Summer'. This marks the second time she has replaced herself at the summit, and she remains the only female artist to have achieved this feat twice.
