Taylor Fritz announced he is donating his first-round Australian Open prize money, approximately $82,000, to Los Angeles wildfire relief funds.
The wildfires, described as the costliest in U.S. history, have left over 25 people dead and destroyed thousands of homes in Southern California.
Fritz, who grew up in the region, revealed that the house his brothers were raised in was destroyed in the fires, and some of his family had to evacuate.
Other tennis players, including Madison Keys and Naomi Osaka, have also contributed or expressed support for relief efforts, highlighting the impact on their communities.
Fritz continues his Australian Open campaign, advancing to the third round with a straight-set victory over Cristian Garin, and will face Gael Monfils next.
