Taxi Driver Killed by Train After Ignoring Crossing Signals on Long Island

The driver bypassed safety gates and signals before being struck by an eastbound Long Island Rail Road train, officials report.

The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. at a grade crossing in Manorville, New York.
Driver Daniel Seagren, 49, was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Hospital.
The passenger, in serious but stable condition, was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital.
The train, carrying around 50 passengers, resumed its journey after a delay.
Investigations confirmed the vehicle was not stuck on the tracks before the gates activated.
